When upgrading from version 1, this tool is vital in safely transferring your settings over to the new system. Since version 2, we completely changed the storage method into a more flexible and externally accessible INI file system. We also changed how some settings work and so this will correctly map as best as possible your original settings to the new ones. We strongly recommend manually examining all settings, users and groups after transfer to ensure they were all correctly imported. Please note that running this tool can only be performed on the actual computer running the FTP service, remote clients will have this option grayed out.
To ensure your FTP server is up to date with the latest software updates, we recommend you use this tool regularly. The update tool will firstly check if your license entitles you to updates and if so, contact our website to query if you are running the latest version. If a newer version is available, you will need to click 'Next' to proceed with the download. Once downloaded, you will again be prompted to 'Install' the update. This will result in the FTP service and administration interface closing and the installation process being run. It is important that at the end of the installation you run the administration client interface to ensure the FTP service is restored. Please note that running this tool can only be performed on the actual computer running the FTP service, remote clients will have this option grayed out.
When you connect remotely using the administration client interface, you may sometimes be informed that the FTP service is running a newer version than your client. This usually occurs when the FTP service computer has installed a newer update and this is the first time you have logged in with your remote client. To update the client, simply follow the on screen instructions, which usually involves downloading the latest update directly from the FTP service. If the FTP service cannot provide this, you will need to manually Download the update directly from our website.
